প্রশ্নে বলা হচ্ছে যে, একটি বাস ধরতে একটি লোক 10 কিমি পথ অতিক্রম করতে হবে। ঐ 10 কিমি দূরত্বের কিছু অংশ থেকে 7 কিমি/ ঘণ্টা বেগে হেঁটে গেল এবং বাকি পথ 12 কিমি/ ঘণ্টা বেগে দৌড়ে গেল। সে যদি মোট দূরত্ব অতিক্রম করতে 1 ঘণ্টা 15 মিনিট সময় নেয় তবে সে কত দূরত্ব পথ হেঁটেছিল? 

We know, 1 hour 15 minutes = 1.25 hours 

Let, time taken by the man to walk is x hours

Time taken by the man to walk is (1.25-x) hours 

So distance covered by walking is 7x km 

and distance covered by walking is 12(1.25-x) km

 As of question, 

$$\begin{gathered} 7x+12(1.25-x)= 10 \\ \Rightarrow 7x+15-12x=10 \\ \Rightarrow 12x-7x=15-10 \\ \Rightarrow 5x=5 \\ \Rightarrow x=1 \end{gathered}$$

He walked 1 hour to catch the bus.

His walking distance is= $7x km=7\times 1=7 km$ (ans)
