∴ Number of students are oil paintings $= x o f \frac{1}{8} = \frac{x}{8}$

∴ Number of students are water colours $= x o f \frac{1}{2} = \frac{x}{2}$

Remaining students $= x - (\frac{x}{3} + \frac{x}{8} + \frac{x}{2}) = x - \frac{8 x + 3 x + 12 x}{24} = x - \frac{23 x}{24} = \frac{x}{24}$

According to the question

$\frac{x}{24} = 10$

Hence, 240 students are in the art class.
