Globalization is very important in international relations. Basically it is a process of expanding trade and commerce all over the world by creating a border less market. But it has a far reaching effect on many aspects of life. With the development of high tech communication media and rapid transportation facilities, the world had come closer. We can now learn instantly what is happening in the farthest corner of the world and travel to any country in the shortest possible time, Countries in the world are like the families in a village. They can even share immediately come to its assistance. But taking advantages of the idea of globalization, capitalism seems to be on triumphant march. It is creating more opportunity for capitalist countries rather than for the developing ones. In the name of help and cooperation, the industrially developed capitalist countries are exploiting the cheap labor available in poorer countries.

জ্ঞানভিত্তিক সমাজ গঠন তথ্য জনভিত্তিক অর্থনীতি এই সময়ের একটি আলোচিত বিষয়। আনভিত্তিক অর্থনীতিতে কায়িক বা শারীরিক পরিশ্রমের চেয়ে মেধা বা জ্ঞানের ব্যবহার বেশি হয়ে থাকে। কৃষি ও শ্রমিকনির্ভর প্রোডাকশন ইকোনমি এর ঠক উল্টো। জ্ঞাননির্ভর অর্থনীতিতে অনেক বেশি প্রবৃদ্ধি সম্ভব। এটা বলা বাহুল্য যে, একবিংশ শতাব্দীর এই পৃথিবীতে মাথা উঁচু করে বিশ্বদরবারে দাঁড়াতে চাইলে জ্ঞানভিত্তিক সমাজ গঠন তথ্য অর্থনীতির কোনো বিকল্প নেই। বাংলাদেশের মতো একটি জনবহুল দেশের জন্য এটি আরও গুরুত্বপূর্ণ। কেননা, জ্ঞানের ভিত্তিতেই কেবল এই বিপুল জনগোষ্ঠীকে একটি জনশক্তিকে একটি উতপাদনশীল জনশক্তিতে রূপান্তরিত করা সম্ভব। ডিজিটাল বাংলাদেশ" এর যে স্বপ্ন তা আসলে জ্ঞানভিত্তিক সমাজ গঠনেরই রূপকল্প। সুচিন্তিত পরিকল্পনার মাধ্যমে সবাইকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে তা বাস্তবায়নের মধ্য দিয়ে দেশকে দ্রুতগতিতে সামনে এগিয়ে নিয়ে যাওয়া সম্ভব।
