Daily workers complete in 40 days 30 x 40 =1,200

$∴$ Alternative workers complete in 40 days = 20 $\times \frac{40}{2}$ =400

Now assume, they work x days after 40 days.

That means, alternate workers will work for $\frac{x}{2}$ days.

$∴$ Total task can be written as

= 1, 200 + 400 + 30x + 20 $\times \frac{x}{2}$ = 2000

= 1, 600 + 30x + 10x = 2

=40x = 400

$∴$ $x = \frac{400}{40} = 10 d a y s .$
