Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, affectionately known as the "Father of the Nation" in Bangladesh, stands as an iconic figure in the annals of history. Born on March 17, 1920, in Tungipara, he emerged as an indomitable force in the fight for Bangladesh's independence. His charismatic leadership, unwavering dedication, and visionary outlook ignited the flames of liberty among the people of East Pakistan. Under his guidance, the Awami League achieved a historic electoral triumph in 1970, leading to the declaration of independence on March 26, 1971. Tragically, his life was cut short when he and many members of his family were assassinated on August 15, 1975, in a dark chapter of the nation's history.
