Let, the present age of P is X and Q is Y.

X = Y+8    ……………..(i)

X-17 = 2(Y-17)   ………….(ii)

Evaluating eqn(ii) we get,

X-17 = 2Y-34

→X = 2Y-17  ……………..(iii)

By subtracting eqn(i) from eqn(iii) we get,

0 = Y-25

→Y = 25

So, the present age of Q is 25.

After 10 years Q will be = 25+10= 35.
