Solve the following Problem:
The average age of a committee of 8 members is 40 years. A member aged 55 years retired and his place was taken by another number aged 39 years. What will be the average age of the present committee?
Sum of age = 8 × 40 = 320 years
∴Difference in age of last member is = 55-39 = 16 years.
∴New sum of age = 320-16= 304 years
∴New average=3048=38 years
The ratio of the salary of A, B & C is 7: 5: 3. If B gets Tk. 222 more than what C gets, then what is the salary of A?
Let, the salary of A, B and C are 7x, 5x and 3x respectively
According to question
5x-3x=222
⇒ 2x=222
∴x2222=111
∴ The salary of A = 7x=7 × 111 = 777 Tk.
