When there are too many people in a country, compared to its size and available resources, it is called overpopulated. Overpopulation causes serious economic, social and political problems. It is also one of the principal causes of poverty, malnutrition, illiteracy and backwardness. There is a direct relation between the size of population and the living conditions of the people. A country with a small population is generally better off than one with a large population. A country, with a large population and limited resources, cannot provide to its population even the bore necessities of life.
