$∴ 10 x w i l l b e t h e n u m b e r o f t o t a l s t u d e n t s$

$H e r e, n u m b e r o f a b s e n t i n 3 c l a s s = x - \frac{x}{2} = \frac{x}{2}$

$N u m b e r o f a b s e n t i n 5 c l a s s = x - \frac{3 x}{4} = \frac{4 x - 3 x}{4} = \frac{x}{4}$

$∴ N u m b e r o f a b s e n t i n 2 c l a s s = \frac{x}{6}$

$A c c o r d i n g t o q u e s t i o n (3 \times \frac{x}{2}) + (5 \times \frac{x}{4}) + (2 \times \frac{x}{6}) = 74 = \frac{3 x}{2} + \frac{5 x}{4} + \frac{x}{3} = 74 = \frac{18 x + 15 x + 4 x}{12} = 74 = 37 x = 74 \times 12 ∴ x = \frac{74 \times 12}{37} = 24 H e n c e, t o t a l s t u d e n t s = 10 * 24 = 240$
