Let the 1st number is X, so 30% of X = 30x100= 3X10

and 2nd number is Y, so the second number reduces to its four-fifths = 4Y5

 

What is the ratio of the X to the Y?

it is X : Y = xY

 

30% of X is subtracted from Y is, Y -3X10

according to the qiestion,      Y -3X10  = 4Y5    

                                       or,    10y-3x10 = 4Y5

                                       or   , 10Y-3X2 = 4Y

                                       or,    10Y - 3X = 8Y

                                       or,     2Y = 3X

                                      or, xY = 23

                                    or,  X : Y = 2:3
